This flag was presented to the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company on August 31, 1942 by Undersecretary of War Robert P. Patterson at the Firestone Stadium in Akron, Ohio. More than 25,000 war workers and their families attended the event. Firestone worker, Edward M. Bogard I and his wife, Ruth, were in attendance that night. The flag was an award for the work that Firestone had done for the war effort. The flag flew under the American flag at the Akron plant untill the war's end.
